Cross Country Update

Daniela Marcor, Editor

The Raiders and Lady Raiders competed in the district cross country meet October 17th where they performed extremely well as expected. Sunnyvale houses both individual district champions: Noah Crownover, with a personal best of 16.48, and Lily Jacobs.

The Lady Raider Varsity team placed 2nd, only 1 point behind the leading school. Grace Knight placed 5th, Emily McCoy placed 6th and Hannah Bailey placed 10th. Lena Meras, Kaitlyn Gonzales, and Karis Starnes had great runs as well. The JV girls cross country team, which consisted majority of basketball players, finished first overall.

The Varsity girls moved on to the regional meet, October 28. Lily Jacobs finished third and Grace Knight finished tenth. These standings combined with the tremendous efforts of the other ladies on the team, earned them a spot in the state meet! This is the second year in a row our entire Lady Raider cross country team has qualified for state.

Unfortunately the boy’s cross country team came to an end. It was a successful season none the less with new personal bests and tons of mental growth. The seniors have had a profound impact on their team mates and the program. The school is grateful for their contributions and dedication to the program. Noah Crownover, Alec Laos and Thomas Khang will be deeply missed.

Be sure to support your Lady Raiders as they travel to Round Rock to compete for a state championship November 9th!
